Remote Area Firefighters refresh their skills

Recently, 49 ACT Rural Fire Service and 11 Parks and Conservation Service members undertook Remote Area Firefighting Teams (RAFT) training at Hume Helibase.

The requalification exercise allowed for existing RAFT members to refresh their skills and knowledge required to attend remote areas by helicopter, either by hovering or winching. RAFT members are also highly skilled in navigation and dry firefighting techniques.

Requalification training must be held every 14 months and is important to ensure correct procedures are followed for safe operations.

‘Onya, team!
