Emergency personnel recognised with Community Protection Medal

Six members from the ACT Emergency Services Agency and ACT Policing have been awarded the ACT Community Protection Medal (CPM).

 

Established in 2002, the award formally recognises that these people have gone above and beyond in their chosen fields, and acknowledges sustained, distinguished, and outstanding dedication – making the ACT a better place to live.

Ms Meredith Leach is awarded the ACT Community Protection Medal for her role within the ACT Emergency Services Agency, including the ACT State Emergency Service. Ms Leach consistently showcases an unwavering commitment to the organisation’s success across various operational facets. Her dedication is evident through tireless efforts that exceed expectations. Ms Leach’s positive attitude and collaborative spirit make her a true team player, fostering camaraderie within the organisation. 

 

Mr Ian Crossley is awarded the ACT Community Protection Medal In recognition of his sustained and exemplary service to the people of the ACT and NSW in his capacity as an ACT Ambulance Service Flight Intensive Care Paramedic. In this role he provides lifesaving treatment to ill and injured people, assists in managing major natural disasters, and develops training systems to increase the skills and knowledge of ACT and NSW Ambulance Colleagues. 

 

Mr Bernhard Evans, ACT Fire & Rescue 

Mr Bernhard Evans is awarded the ACT Community Protection Medal for his tireless commitment to firefighting, the public, and environmental safety through his role with ACT Fire & Rescue. Station Officer Evans is recognised for his sustained and distinguished commitment to improving community safety outcomes, and his contributions to firefighter health and safety. 

 

Mr Leslie Jordan, ACT Rural Fire Service 

Mr Leslie Jordan is awarded the ACT Community Protection Medal for sustained, distinguished and outstanding service to the Canberra community, in particular through the training of new volunteers, community engagement and education activities. Mr Jordan has also led teams responding to bushfire and storm events over a significant period. 

 

Mr Craig Hicks, ACT State Emergency Service 

Mr Craig Hicks is awarded the ACT Community Protection medal for his role within the ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES), both as a paid staff member and a volunteer. Craig consistently demonstrates distinguished service above and beyond the normal requirements of duties. His unwavering commitment and exceptional contributions have significantly enhanced the effectiveness of community protection initiatives within the ACTSES. 

Mr Maxim Mokrij is awarded the ACT Community Protection Medal in recognition of his sustained, distinguished and outstanding service to the ACT Community, from frontline community policing, and specifically combatting alcohol fuelled violence and liquor licencing reform.
