Firefighters have extinguished a house fire on Bemboka Crescent in Kaleen.
Two residents were home at the time and called Emergency Triple Zero (000) after hearing noises in the roof. They safely evacuated before ACT Fire & Rescue arrived on scene just before 6am.
The fire was contained to the roof space and it is believed the fire began in the chimney. Firefighters are now checking for fire extension through the rest of the house.
Two trucks, the Breathing Apparatus Van and a commander remain on site.
ACT Ambulance Service also attended but no one required treatment.
