After-effect of wet weather and storms in the ACT

Recent wet weather and storms in the ACT have kept emergency services busy since Friday 24 November 2017.

The past 72 hours have seen the ACT State Emergency Service attend to 57 Requests for Assistance. The jobs have mainly related to leaking roofs, localised flooding, tree damage to houses and fallen trees on roads.

ACT Fire & Rescue are also assisting with the response and been tasked with 30 jobs including tree removal and providing assistance to keep sites safe where power lines are down.

The main area affected was Southside (Bonython, Gordon, Kambah and Chisholm).

The ACT Emergency Services Agency would like to remind the community to not park cars under trees during a storm, and to keep away from storm drains and creeks due to the risk of flash flooding.
