Vertical rescue at Ginninderra Falls

Firefighters are conducting a vertical rescue after a 17-year-old fell from Ginninderra Falls.

The young man suffered multiple fractures after falling 15 metres when in the area with friends.

ACT Fire & Rescue has three pumpers on scene and another has been called in to provide lighting for the operation.

The man will be lifted to safety and carried by firefighters on a stretcher to the ambulance. Due to the heat and the difficulty of the terrain the rescue may take some time.

The ACT Ambulance Service is also in attendance.

The Emergency Triple Zero (000) call was received just before 7pm.
