Severe storms

Severe storms can bring down trees and unroof sheds or houses. Heavy rain causes flash flooding. Hail can cause damage through its impact, or by blocking drains and causing overflows. Lightning threatens people in the open, can cause power surges which damage electrical equipment, is liable to damage anything it hits, and may cause bushfires if it hits dry vegetation. Tornados can develop under thunderstorms and cause localised severe damage.
