About the ACT State Emergency Service
The ACT State Emergency Service (SES) is an emergency organisation dedicated to helping the community. It consists of around 200 volunteers and seven staff members.
The SES is primarily responsible for undertaking planning and response operations for storms and floods.
In addition the SES:
- undertakes civil defence planning and civil defence operations;
- supports other services in relation to emergencies;
- supports other agencies in relation to searches; and
- provides support for community organisations where this assists with the training of SES members.
