Training - Advanced Bushfire Fighter
General issues
Advanced Bushfire fighters are experienced bushfire fighters able to work without direct supervision. The prerequisites for advancement to this level are:
- Deemed a competent Bushfire Fighter for at least two years;
- Attended at least four bushfire responses or four hazard reduction burn operations where bushfire fighting was undertaken and competency demonstrated; and
- Have the endorsement of your Brigade Captain as being competent at this level.
Competencies
To achieve the Advanced Firefighter level, members must be assessed as competent in the following competency standards:
- Prepare, maintain and test response equipment;
- Navigate in urban and rural environments;
- Operate pumps;
- Work autonomously; and
- Suppress wildfire.
