About the ACT Rural Fire Service

Responsible for the suppression of bush and grass fires within rural and remote areas of the ACT.

The Rural Fire Service has:

  • 350 active volunteers in 9 brigades;
  • 8 brigades equipped for bushfire fighting with all members at a known fitness standard; and
  • Departmental brigades with full-time members include
    Parks with 106 members, and Forests with 40 members.
