Things you can do - AFTER A SEVERE STORM OR FLOODING

Things you can do to recover after a storm or local flooding

Quick guide for householders.

  • Apply first-aid if required
  • Check for damage
  • Check on your neighbours
  • Beware of fallen power lines, damaged buildings and trees
  • In the event of flooding:
    • Boil tap water
    • Do not use gas or electricity until supplies have been safety checked
    • Beware of snakes and spiders
    • Avoid wading
    • Don't enter water without checking depth and current
