LATEST NEWS 4:05pm Thursday 2 September 2010 - Small fire extinguished at Manuka ACT Fire Brigade has extinguished a small fire on the roof of Manuka Village shopping centre at Bougainville and Furneaux Streets, Griffith.

Fire caused by workmen welding in an area surrounding the air conditioning duct. Workman attempted to extinguish small fire, but was completely extinguished by ACT Fire Brigade.

Approx 40 people were evacuated as a precaution.

Time of Emergency Triple Zero (000) call 3.20pm.

Two fire pumpers, one Breathing Apparatus Van and one HAZMAT unit attended.

Minor damage only to the roof and air conditioning unit.

Staff and shoppers have been permitted to return to building.
5:45pm Monday 30 August 2010 - Controlled burn at Black Mountain Peninsula tomorrow The ACT Department of Territory and Municipal Services will conduct a controlled burn tomorrow, Tuesday 31st August 2010, weather permitting at Black Mountain Peninsula.

5:40pm Friday 27 August 2010 - Two hazard reduction burns in the ACT tomorrow The ACT Rural Fire Service Rivers Brigade will be conducting two hazard reduction burns tomorrow within the Territory.

The first burn off of grass will occur within the Guilfoyle Street Native Grass Area in Yarralumla, between Adelaide Ave and Guilfoyle Street.

The ACT Handy Map Grid Reference for the burn is L12.

The second hazard reduction burn of wood piles will occur at Scrivener Dam.

The ACT Handy Map Grid Reference for the burn is L12.

Residents in the surrounding areas may notice smoke throughout the day.
