What We Do
The ACT Emergency Services Agency is established to protect the community from a range of hazards. We provide five classes of service for the Government:
- Compliance - are our Acts or Regulations being followed;
- Emergency Response - getting help to you fast;
- Community Education and Awareness - telling you how to reduce your vulnerability;
- Preparedness - what we do to get ready to help you (training, equipment, communications, etc.;
- Recovery - helping the community recover after an emergency; and
- Administrative services - our personnel, stores, finance areas.
ESA manages the planning for disasters via the ACT Emergency Management Committee which develops the ACT Emergency Plan in cooperation with many other sections of government, especially the Australian Federal Police.
