Prevention

Prevention is the regulatory and physical measures taken to ensure that emergencies are prevented, or their effects mitigated.
The ACT Fire Brigades fulfils this core function for the ACT Community through the Fire Safety Section.

See the following information:

  • Fire Safety Section - functions as a Regulatory Authority, prescribed in the ACT Building Regulations 1998, in the field of commercial building developments and alterations. It has become increasingly involved in consultancy roles for the fire protection industry and the operational component of the Fire Brigade.
  • Fire Safety Policies - the Section has issued a number of fire safety policy documents.
  • RAAP program - the Road Awareness and Accident Prevention program aims to prevent accidents through greater awareness by providing year-11 students with a hard-hitting insight into what happens to road accident victims and the aftermath from injuries and fatalities.
  • Deliberately Lit Fires Warning - a Fire safety message from the ACT Fire Commissioner.
