What we do

The ACT Ambulance Service (ACTAS) is responsible for providing emergency and non-emergency ambulance services to the ACT community. ACTAS is established by the Emergencies Act 2004 and organised into 3 functional areas:

1. Operational Services
Operational Services is lead by the Deputy Chief Officer and is responsible for all operational service delivery (emergency and non-emergency road ambulance services, aeromedical services and communication services).

ACTAS currently operates from seven (7) ambulance stations in the ACT:
- Dickson - Challis & Morphett Streets.
- Belconnen - Lathlain Street.
- Woden - Hindmarsh Drive.
- Calwell - Johnson Drive.
- Fyshwick - Dalby Street. (Joint Emergency Services Centre)
- Gungahlin - Anthony Rolfe Drive. (Joint Emergency Services Centre)
- Kambah - Sulwood Drive. (Joint Emergency Services Centre)

The Snowy Hydro SouthCare helicopter operates from a purpose built facility on the Monaro Highway at Hume. Communications and management/administration are based at the Emergency Services Agency HQ at Carruthers Street, Curtin.

2. Clinical Services
Clinical Services is lead by a General Manager and is responsible for clinical governance, standards and clinical education.

3. Operational Support Services
Operational Support Services is lead by a General Manager and is responsible for operational, administrative and business support, capability development and emergency management and planning.
